This model with crank adapts so easily to the desired height for painting. After almost a year I had a problem with the crank nothing to do with the quality of the product. I contacted the service of meeden and in less than 2 days someone answered me. According to the problem I had they decided without hesitation to send me a new easel. There service was exceptional especially Mica who follows you through the whole process with great attention. I recommend not only this easel but any product sold by this company

Although the easel came with a broken part the seller was quick to solve my issue. The easel itself feel very premium and sturdy. My only complaint are the cabinets which feel of lesser quality. For the price this is a great product that will last a long time.

Really seemed daunting to see all the parts but I had it assembled in 2 hours. It is well put together all the holes are in the right place quality hardware and quality tools to put it together. It is really a nice piece of furniture and VERY SOLID.

The easel was not difficult to assemble the instructions were easy to follow and included even the tools needed and it's so beautiful and so solid. I couldn't be happier.

I do paintings that range from 16x20 inches to 36x48 inches usually on masonite. I wanted an easel that I could quickly move up or down to position the upper or lower portion of my paintings to a height that was comfortable to work on --- but I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars for a counter-weight easel. After much research I decided on a hand crank easel and finally decided on this one from Meeden. First of all it's beautiful. I cut some of the foam packing material to place on the bottom ledge where my paintings sit and on the ledge below that which covers the pull-out drawers so that I wouldn't worry about spilling paint on the easel (and no I'm not a neat freak; this easel is just so pretty I didn't want to mess it up). Speaking of packing material there is a lot of it. Meeden obviously didn't want any scratches during shipping. Second assembly was easy. There are simple numbered step-by-step pictures to follow. Meeden provides 2 pliers and a small wrench the only tools you need. Last the crank works great. Now the area I want to work on gets positioned just where I need it. I wish I'd bought one of these years ago.

The directions were mostly clear but I missed the part about sliding a couple pieces onto the main shaft at some point - that wasn't made clear enough I guess. I disassembled corrected and reassembled. Minor set back. Also be careful not to tighten your canvas clamp too securely as mine has cracked the wood on the first use. Yikes.
Overall though I love this easel. I use it primarily for Soft Pastel painting in a vertical orientation. I use a 1/4" thick glass (old mirror) backboard to support my Pastelmat paintings (I tape them to it). The 1/4" mirror fits in the groves of the easel easily and stays put even with pressure. I love the huge cubby and use it to hold my in-use pastel pencils as I paint. The easel wipes clean easily after a project. Most of my projects are around 16x20" or smaller. The easel cranks up/down with very little effort smooth as butter (this was my #1 purpose for purchasing this easel). I appreciate that I can lift the easel to reach the lower parts of my painting without hunching over (as a professional artist I needed something to help alleviate my backpain from the old draft table that I was using before). My ceilings in my studio are less than 8' and I have not had any issue with clearance yet. I hang my largest canvases (3-6' tall) directly on a wall to paint.
